3 Director and a former Director of Genneva ordered martial

KUALA LUMPUR: a sessions Court today ordered three directors and a former Director of an investment company gold bars defending against 224 anti-money laundering charge and five deposit-taking charge without license involves transactions worth over RM100 million.

Judge Datuk Rozana Ali Yusoff decided that after discovering the prosecution managed to prove prima facie cases against three Directors of the company Genneva Sdn Bhd, Ng Poh Weng, 63, Marcus Yee Yuen Seng, 61, Chin Wai Leong, 37, and former Director Liew Chee Wah, 59.

The Court set March 15, is to hear the case of defence. All the accused will testify on oath.

For the charge of anti-money laundering, Ng, prosecuted against 93 charge while Yee face 40 charges while Chin 61 charge and Liew were 30 charge.

All the accused had allegedly been committed such offence with Public Bank Berhad Kuala Lumpur branch, ground floor, Menara Public Bank, 146 Jalan Ampang, between July 2008 and June 2009.

For that, they claimed in accordance with section 4 (1) of the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing Act 2001 which is punishable by imprisonment up to five years and fined up to RM5 million.

All four accused also face five charges for receiving deposits from the public without a valid in accordance with section lesan 25 (1) of the banking and financial institutions Act 1989.
They claimed in accordance with section 103 (1) of the Act, which carries the penalty of a fine of up to RM10 million or imprisonment up to 10 years or both, if convicted.

They allegedly committed the offence at Jalan Kuchai Maju 6, Off Jalan Kuchai Lama, here, between November 2008 and July 2009.

The prosecution handled Deputy Public Prosecutor Mardziatun Nisa and lawyers Datuk Hashim represent all accused Hanif. -NEW STRAITS TIMES
